Call Break Plus 4.4

Call Break is a strategic trick-based card game that is played by four players using a standard deck of 52 playing cards. It shares many similarities with other trick-based games, particularly Spades. In Call Break, the term "Hand" is used in place of trick, and "Call" is used instead of bid. After each deal, players must make a Call or Bid for the number of hands they believe they can capture. The objective is to capture at least the number of hands called and to prevent other players from achieving their own calls. Points are calculated after each round, and after five rounds, the total points determine the winner.

Deal & Bid

The game consists of five rounds or five deals. The first dealer is chosen randomly, and then the dealer position rotates counterclockwise after each deal. The dealer distributes all 52 cards among the four players, with each player receiving 13 cards. After the completion of each deal, the player to the left of the dealer places a bid - specifying the number of hands or tricks they believe they can capture. The bidding process continues counterclockwise to the next player until all four players finish calling.

Game Play

After each player completes their call, the player next to the dealer makes the first move. This player can play any card, and the suit of this card becomes the led suit. Each subsequent player must follow suit if they have a card of that suit. If they don't have any cards of that suit, they must play a trump card - which is always a Spade of any rank. If a player doesn't have a Spade either, they can play any other card. The highest-ranked card of the led suit captures the hand. However, if the led suit was broken by Spades, then the highest-ranked Spade card captures the hand. The winner of a hand leads to the next hand. This process continues until all 13 hands are played, and then a new deal begins.

Points

After each round, points are updated for each player. If a player captures at least the number of hands they called, they receive one point for each hand called and an additional decimal point for any extra captures. For example, if a player called 4 and captured 5 hands, they would receive 4.1 points. If a player fails to capture the number of hands they called, the total number of hands called is subtracted from their score.

Result

The winner of the game is determined at the end of the fifth round based on the player with the highest total points. If any player places a bid of 8 or more and captures hands equal to or greater than their bid count in any round, they become the winner of the game.
